The Regional and Local Studies Laboratory (LERLOC, CNPp certification: 22/07/2021) conducts postgraduate research with the following objectives:
a) to study the political phenomena and their social implications in the Brazilian territory and abroad.
b) to study the relationship between the internationalization of local social phenomena and the regional economy.
c) to study the relationship between the Political Theory and the local and regional developments, considering possible implications for the public policies.
The group's projects represent an interpretation effort of the political phenomena in their local and regional components, not only from the political point of view but also considering the legal and constitutional organization of the State. This approach reinforces the preference for empirical research.
The group is concerned not only with issues related to the territory occupation, in urban or rural instances, but primarily with the investigation of social, political, and economic aspects. Among the interpretive parameters used are the singularities of the models of federalism and fundamental decisions involving the planning of public policies, considering their implications on the local and regional dilemmas.
